I put an ad block exception on Voat and thought it wasn't working because of the exception i put in for YouTube redirects... Turns out I'm not crazy (also everyone out there allow ads for anything you support, i only turn it on for intrusive non banner ads because i know that banner ads are enough to run a server)

Ads is how it starts. Then in a couple of years they are going to have to censor everything because they can't make money with so much negative publicity. Ringing a bell yet?

I would honestly rather pay $5 for a one-time or once a year membership than see fucking ads.

Probably not happening:

You are welcome, it was a long time ago. So it is understandable.

No ads. It really is a security issue as much as it's an annoyance. Ad serving companies never check for malware before serving the ads. I'm not risking my machines security. But a cheap monthly/yearly fee to keep the servers going I'm fine with.
