I'm not hearing it and I'll tell you why.

I'm not going to say every single one but I'd guess that I could go through 9 out of 10 of those people who say they live paycheck to paycheck and find out why. It ALWAYS boils down to their spending beyond their means for things that are not required of them way before they should. Every single time.

Even the article says so:

"My husband is a Park Ranger in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and he had to sign his furlough papers," one woman tweeted. "We have a 4 yr. old and a 4-month-old, and we don't know when his next check will come. Mortgage is due, Christmas 2 days away."

I didn't force you to have two kids before you could afford them, that was your choice. I didn't force you to buy a 4 bedroom home when all you needed was a 3 bedroom. That was your choice. I'm not the one who made bad financial decisions all year with Christmas 2 days away. YOU did that.

If all whites waited to have kids until we could truly afford them none of us would have them. I’m having as many as I can, regardless.

Breeding beyond your capacity to self sustain is a nigger trait, that's something to be proud of alright.

You are spot on here.

Poor choices were made, sacrifice deffered for the short term gain, and inability to not spend what's in the pocket.

America is the most mobile civilization in history, with the highest overall ability to move economic strata, and actively (is supposed to) ensure equality of rights.

If they can't make it here, 9/10, they can't make.

Edit: My first downvoat, and for stating a reality no less, I really am home!

We get a lot of losers here too. They stray in from other parts of the internet where responsibility and hard work is for suckers.

Can you show any data about any of this? Highest overall ability to move economic strata - really? Should be easy to show from data collected by IRS.

Didn't downvote you, and not saying your point is entirely wrong. There is some truth in the personal choices part, but some of that stuff you are citing is nothing but "hurr durr America is the best at everything, even though I have no idea what the data actually shows!"

I found something: https://www.epi.org/publication/usa-lags-peer-countries-mobility/

The notion that anyone in America who is willing and able to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” can achieve significant upward mobility is deeply embedded in U.S. society. Conventional wisdom holds that class barriers in the United States are the lowest among the world’s advanced economies. Motivating this belief is the notion that there is a tradeoff between market regulation and mobility; advanced European economies are characterized by higher taxes, greater regulation, more union coverage, universal health care, a more comprehensive social contract, etc. Because some see these policies and institutions as impediments to mobility, mobility is believed to be greater in the United States.

While faith in the American Dream is deep, evidence suggests that the United States lacks policies to ensure the opportunities that the dream envisions. According to the data, there is considerably more mobility in most other developed economies.

… snip for brevity...

The relationship between father-son earnings is tighter in the United States than in most peer OECD countries, meaning U.S. mobility is among the lowest of major industrialized economies. The relatively low correlations between father-son earnings in Scandinavian countries provide a stark contradiction to the conventional wisdom. An elasticity of 0.47 found in the United States offers much less likelihood of moving up than an elasticity of 0.18 or less, as characterizes Finland, Norway, and Denmark.

Median pay in the USA is dogshit. Most people live close to cities, where prices are high. Suburbs only save you to a certain extent on costs, then the rest of your "savings" gets eaten up by transportation.

No one is really winning, with wages flat as fuck but inflation and food/healthcare prices escalating. Its going to reach a breaking point. Oh, and wait until the fucking underfunded and nearly broke pension programs fail.

That's going to fuck everything up.

You sound like every other loser dip shit who's too stupid to accept your own inadequacies. You're entire post swings around mine while you avoid every single point I've made while you've attempted to blame others for your shortcomings.

Consume less, save for the things you want. No one starts out at the top, you work your way up.

I'm very well aware of the costs of living, I endure them every day.

How's that new iPhone you bought the other day? I bet you're enjoying that 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony even though it's just you and your girlfriend living there. I know, I know, just in case someone wants to sleep over..........

The other night you spent a $120 at the bar, it sure was though right?

Judeo-Capitalism has failed completely, rich people are hoarding all the money, pushing degeneracy, and flooding this country with immigrants from the Global South.

What I mean to say is that the system has failed to generate adequate living standards for working people.

But yes, it is all going according to the plans of those who wish to concentrate wealth in their hands. For the ultra-rich wealth is so grossly abundant they don't even need it, yet they do for the challenge, just to see how much more money they can squeeze.

Stop spending money on junk, stop going into debt to pay for a lifestyle you can't afford, don't waste money on education for majors you don't need college for. It is quite simple to save money.

Cook your own meals, mend your clothes, don't buy a vehicle you can't afford in cash, build a emergency fund, spend less than you make.

Four in 10 adults say they couldn't produce $400 in an emergency without sliding into debt or selling something

If it was more than a couple thousand I might end up selling shares of public stock, but I don’t consider myself paycheck to paycheck. So does that mean selling random shit like your lawnmower?

Yep, selling random shit like your TV and textbooks.

From personal experience.

Lesson learned, now I'm in the top 10%.
