Seems that way. I havent read enough yet about his reasons to give an opinion but I hope it is being done as an opportunity for him (and others) to be convinced in a public way to come around and not give the impression he wont stand up to the President. Hard to say.

After reading your earlier reply I looked up an interview with LG from April '18.

His position was roughly the same, but he trashed POTUS for not attacking Assad and Syrian forces.

Wow - I appreciate the background. It sounds like LG was rightly concerned back in April that we shouldnt pull out until Syrian forces were trained. Sounded like he knew the politics of the countries well and had legitimate points for us to stay at that time but not indefinitely. He has a lot of history with the middle east and definitely is passionate about his beliefs. It is now 8 months later - it will be interesting to watch it play out. Thank you for posting this link.
