I fully disagree with that I'd say, because passions are matters of the senses, but what elevates the soul to great thing is directing pure thought to the symbolism and concepts applied to the sensibilities and back to the forms of reality and then grounding it in the activity of the non-I(the mind), but in must be done where the sensibilities mediate the form of experience in such a manner where they translate and communicate the symbols and concepts produced by the mind with a corresponding reality(emotions must concern themselves with reality).
