It is ok to autoplay videos on a video website. That is it.

For example if you click on a suggested video on a side panel you are going to want it to play. You illustrated your intent that you want that video to play. But in case someone opens multiple videos in multiple tabs to watch something later it should only play once focus is on that tab.

Another thing that is good is good videography. People should be able to notice your video playing and stop it before it gets loud and annoying.

would be great, except I don't feel like doing that every time I go to a new news page. I just would love a ublock origin list only for videos so I don't have to do this task

It's another drop in the bucket to why I prefer using archives. No autoplay bullshit there.

You can block the element with ublock origin but it's per page.. so the next time you go there to read something the video will be there again.

The archive sites have an error that prevents them from loading at all. I use uMatrix and unblock various elements when I want to see something like a video. Usually, most of the crap the page tries to load is unnecessary.

I rarely have an issue with archive.today and prefer it over wayback. Content was allegedly removed from wayback, wayback when pizzagate got smashed on and they lost a lot of shit. Archive.today also has a download option to save to disk.

Videos on Voat do not play until you click them. If you do not like videos so much, then don't fucking click them.

My privacy browser (Brave) must do something, cause I never even see any videos to click on....

YouTube is doing that too (think Google idiots thought it'd be great idea - bain of my friggen existance , HATE autoplay videos or ads)! It's like saying "Screw you , you're paying attention to me" which automatically puts the message in a bad light to me.

New sites hate 3G/4G so they want your bandwith just finishes as soon as possible.
