Yeah, they'll each get a chunk of land and some assets. They'll get plenty of both, enough for them to qualify as 'rich'. They won't get it all.

There are no family ties to the land or location. There are community ties to the land and location. The land will remain open and undeveloped. There are strict rules in the trust. There is logging on the property, but that is a process known as TSI and there's a finite amount they can take. That will keep the taxes paid.

So, people will still be able to hunt, fish, camp, etc... They were doing that before I owned the land. This way, their grandchildren can do the same thing. There are quite a few other land trusts in the area. For some reason, it just seems the right thing to do and people do it.

The area around the house will go to my daughter. My son wants a large chunk down the road, so he gets that. My kids will want a few of my guitars and maybe a vehicle or two. I suspect that EH will get what's left of my guitar collection after the kids pick a few out. She will take good care of them.

The missus will be taken care of. The youngest hoodlum will be taken care of. I suspect he will end up with some of the vehicles. The eldest hoodlum will be taken care of. It makes me feel comfortable to know that my loved ones will be fine. It is a contented feeling. I know they'll not have to worry about money. They will not have to wrangle shit out in court.

Hell, I don't even bother with a life insurance policy. Those are often a bitch to get to pay out in full and I can do better just investing the premiums now.

I want them to celebrate my life, not mourn my death and have a shitton of work to do.

I have life insurance but you are right. Investments are where it's at. Unless something changes, I cant imagine how hard life will be 25 years from now. I worry about the kids.

If things get too bad, they'll be financially secure and there's land in Canada while my son is settling in Peru.

In other words, we have three countries as an option. Peru is pretty safe but corrupt as fuck. I paid a lawyer to bribe a government worker. That is how he got his permanent resident visa. That's actually the norm and, strangely, isn't an illegal act in the US. Some bribery is legal for us to do in other countries.

Then, there's Canada. My extended family is there and I own property there. We're Micmac. My kids could jump through hoops and get citizenship but will be allowed resident visas if shit hits the fan.

Of course, there is here. If it gets tough here, the whole country is fucked. Even in a civil war, they're not coming here to fuck with us.

So, I'm not too worried, but we do have options if shit goes pear shaped. I also have guns and ammo, friends in low places, and assets not on the books.
