Yes, yes I've been making end-of-life plans since I retired. I don't want to leave my kids with a hassle and I don't want there to be any doubt about my wishes. Trusts... I love me some trusts. Unless the world's economy completely collapses, I'll have left behind things that will last a long time.
I wish more people would do this. I truly do. The last thing I want is to leave my kids some fucked up mess. My wife and I have been planning for several years on end of life stuff, and we're young for such a thing. All of my land has to stay in the family. Its for future family. Anything less should be met with fire and bullets.
He found a native Peruvian girl. He used to lie and say he was returning to college but taking a break. He's long since stopped lying.
He had to make sure, Dad.
My kids have been pretty poor(ish). We were lower middle-class when my daughter was young. We were upper-middle class when my kids came to live with me. However, I was constantly on the road so I had to then pay for them to have a live-in nanny, which brought us right back down to middle-class.
I've been all of the above before marriage. When we first started out after marriage we were kinda poor for about 7 years. Then it all started picking up. Now, I consider us lower middle class even though that is a lie because I don't want to admit that we are better off than that because of my lustful hate for most upper middle class people. lolol We know the value of a dollar. Unfortunately, we have to rub elbows with a lot of well-to-doers and out of every 20 there might be one cool one who is down-to-Earth. You can only imagine the truth I lay on their smug asses. My wife constantly digs her fingernails into my ribs but I dont care. I have no respect for someone who was born rich. None. Very few of them earn it. Disclaimer: If you're cool, you're cool. I don't give a shit what you are.
Which is why I kept paying for my drug habit with my music!
Ha! Troof!
Holy fuck, we still do gab like old ladies.
AH AH AH We always do! Good grief.

Yeah, they'll each get a chunk of land and some assets. They'll get plenty of both, enough for them to qualify as 'rich'. They won't get it all.
There are no family ties to the land or location. There are community ties to the land and location. The land will remain open and undeveloped. There are strict rules in the trust. There is logging on the property, but that is a process known as TSI and there's a finite amount they can take. That will keep the taxes paid.
So, people will still be able to hunt, fish, camp, etc... They were doing that before I owned the land. This way, their grandchildren can do the same thing. There are quite a few other land trusts in the area. For some reason, it just seems the right thing to do and people do it.
The area around the house will go to my daughter. My son wants a large chunk down the road, so he gets that. My kids will want a few of my guitars and maybe a vehicle or two. I suspect that EH will get what's left of my guitar collection after the kids pick a few out. She will take good care of them.
The missus will be taken care of. The youngest hoodlum will be taken care of. I suspect he will end up with some of the vehicles. The eldest hoodlum will be taken care of. It makes me feel comfortable to know that my loved ones will be fine. It is a contented feeling. I know they'll not have to worry about money. They will not have to wrangle shit out in court.
Hell, I don't even bother with a life insurance policy. Those are often a bitch to get to pay out in full and I can do better just investing the premiums now.
I want them to celebrate my life, not mourn my death and have a shitton of work to do.

I have life insurance but you are right. Investments are where it's at. Unless something changes, I cant imagine how hard life will be 25 years from now. I worry about the kids.
