It’s probably too late to undo the fact that many of them were raised without being taught effective coping mechanisms. I’m sure many healthcare providers are at their wits end addressing such a widespread issue. The three arms of therapy are lifestyle modifications(healthy diet, exercise, bio-feedback etc..) counseling and SSRI’s/SNRI’s. I’m afraid the counseling arm may be ineffective- it’s like expecting a paralyzed person to begin training to bench press 100lbs.

Many parents give their children anti-depressants for natural depressing situations like a death in the family. Anti-depressants lead to anti-psychotics and on and on and on.
