We're rapidly approaching a situation where nearly all that exists is entry level work. Technology has enabled managers to do more than ever before so we need less of them. The real limitation behind how many people can be managers isn't some magical need for experience, but how much managing needs to be done. Meanwhile the competition for entry level work is reaching insane levels, demanding years of experience that in the past would qualify someone for a manager position, only to give them an entry level one.
We ran into this exact same problem back in the 1930s. Machines replaced farmers and there just wasn't enough jobs for everyone and we had mass poverty wages as a result. The answer for that time was job rationing.

They'll end up like that if they do go to school with the added bonus of being too high and mighty for entry level work.
