Why do they take so many selfies?!
If I took a selfie and it looked like that, I'd never take another one.
Actually, I don't take selfies because I'm fugly and it's depressing, so how are these fat fuckers so in love with themselves? How do they not see the pictures and think, "holy shit, I need to stop shoving food in my face because I'm a fucking whale"?

Yeah, I tend not to photograph well...so I rarely take selfies and almost never share them (I'll take them to see how a different hairstyle looks or something, and then usually delete them). I think the last time I actually took and shared one online was the day I did my hair in victory rolls, three years ago. I too do not understand how people who look that bad are so happy to take and share pictures of themselves all the time. Aside from the fact that I don't like how I look in pictures, it feels so fucking egotistical.
And funnily enough, a couple of weeks ago my husband found a stack of old pictures that had been in storage, and one of them was my The Picture. As in, The Picture that, eleven years ago now, made me realize I was getting fucking fat and needed to do something about it, The Picture that horrified me, The Picture that made me put down the fork and lose forty pounds. It is just as horrifying to look at today as it was then; my body didn't look too bad in it but my face was starting to totally look piggy, my cheekbones were disappearing... I cannot imagine looking at that picture of myself and thinking, "Eh, shrug I look fine, guess I'm just naturally fat, oh well." I especially cannot imagining looking at that picture and thinking, "Great! Now let me put on some spandex and take a few more!" SMH, man.

I remember finding a picture of myself when I was fat like 8 years after I had lost the weight. No one in the family had ever seen it before (got developed and shoved in a drawer or something) and all of us saw me and couldn't believe how gross I looked. As in, no one remembered me being fat.

My take: they're posting so many selfies as a way to seek validation, precisely because they are unhappy with themselves. /armchair psychology

They want to be unique, which is fair enough. But they are too lazy to be unique in a way that requires any effort. The "other girls" who they see as so boring and plain may look that way on first impressions, but get to know them, and I bet they have something unique that is also interesting. What makes someone special in a real way is when you talk to them and find they have a hidden passion for an oddball or unexpected subject or they have a niche, skilled hobby and suddenly there is an extra dimension to them that makes them different. All these people for whom their only characteristic is their tattoos or their coloured hair will usually be absolutely vapid, empty people with nothing whatsoever in their brains because 90% of the time they chose these characteristics to avoid developing real ones. I guarantee not a single one of these people who are so "quirky" and "weird" could hold a conversation about anything that isn't reality TV, fast food, or gossip.

I actually meet truly unique women from time to time, but they're the EXTREME MINORITY.
One in her 40s is a competitive dragon-boater (like national level gold medal shit) and an equestrian, who developed a program of physical fitness (weight training) to temporarily improve the quality of life for terminal cancer patients.
One in her late 20s is a three-gun shooter and an audio engineer as a hobby - played multiple musical instruments. Works in the video game industry.
One's a senior citizen now, and she was a former nun who became a pioneer of the computer industry in the 1960s, got a pilots license, then ran for national-level political office multiple times when she retired. She's in her 80s and still lifts weights in the gym.
The last one is in her 40s, was in the military with me. Became a private military contractor for a while, learned six or seven languages in that time. She took all her money, bought investment property, and because she had passive income she founded an NGO. She went to rural Afghanistan to teach English.
And so - out of the hundreds (possibly thousands) that I've met, those four are pretty much the only "unique" ones I've ever encountered so far.
All are fit. None are fat. I don't think that's a coincidence.

I agree, totally.
Of course, you also have the bitches like this who go out of their way to cultivate one "weird" interest--whether it's genuinely weird or not (usually not--even their weird stuff tends to be really generic), and whether it genuinely interests them or not. Like, they'll decide to be really into Baltic death art or something (I just made that up), and spend a few days on the internet reading about it and downloading pictures to print & hang or occasionally post on their Instas to prove how deep and unusual they are, even though in their day-to-day life they don't think about or care about it at all. Or they'll claim to love Enrico Caruso, or spiders, or Victorian momento mori jewelry, or Captain Carrot comics from the 80s, and make a big deal about it to strangers because they think it makes them seem intellectual and fascinating. So they might be able to hold a conversation about one of those topics, but your point still stands: they are essentially shallow, and have nothing to add to adult discourse or the world in general.

I hate when thin girls/guys act like they're badass for a sleeve tattoo... So I really hate fats that think their badass or unique from having similar body stamps (it looks even grosser on their flesh too).
