Same here! I observed 1337000000 way back in May '12 (just over 100000000 seconds ago!). https://twitter.com/megasecond is great for observing megaseconds.

I got a Nerdfighter DFTBA tattoo....
[–] GenotsKnots [S] ago
What's that, and what does it look like? I feel like I should know but I don't :(

DFTBA stands for Don't Forget To Be Awesome. Check out this link for a video explaining a bit about what a Nerdfighter is, and check out v/VolgBrothers to see a bit more of John and Hank (the guys if the video)
Bonus info: John is the man responsible for the recent "The Fault in our Stars" movie, as well as the upcoming "Paper Towns" movie.

My girlfriend and I skipped our senior prom to eat pizza and watch crappy anime until 4 AM. 11 years later, and I've realized this was a metaphor for our lives.

Went to chess club every week in high school, sometimes to just sit/eat and watch people play. I kinda stopped in my last year though because all the older players had graduated. The teacher asked me to be President of the chess club when I was the only senior left, but I declined because I was already P and VP of 2 other clubs...and to be honest, I couldn't give a care about the whole rating thing. Then again I usually lost my games :) Still, it was fun just to play. I remember watching a game during my freshman year where a guy played with his back turned to the board (moves were read aloud to him, he used his memory to keep track of the board), and he won. It was epic.

Tough one. Regularly solved math problems for fun while mostly ignoring roomfuls of women wearing short skirts? Rewiring my phone and piping it through the sound card of my PC (in the days before cell phones were common, and not for any illegal purpose)? Reading the system's source code when I couldn't find the documentation I was looking for? Pointing out to coworkers how the pages of code that they spent hours on could be rewritten in a few lines?

How did you regularly end up in roomfuls of skirt wearing women?

I am a structural engineer and I collect old steel manuals and machining books. I also have a few letters and memos from old bridge projects here in the States. My favorite one is a change order for the Brooklyn Bridge construction.
