step 1 : bring all technology production back to the mainland US
step 2 : this massively threatens the chinese, japanese, and taiwanese economise
step 3 : they stop selling their electronics to the US (or at least ramp up the price tenfold) - this causes a crash in ability to procure electronics, which matters because no matter how 'based' the US economy is, it takes a damned long time to build that level of production capacity
step 4 : china stops selling the US rare earth metals (or at least, dials up the price massively) - this again causes massive shortages and price increases in technology, and the US will be massively hampered in acquiring them outside of china because china has brought up most of the major non chinese (aka african) sources of these elements
step 5 : ????????
step 6 : America backs down.
Yeah you're right!!!
We should ignore all physical realities, slap down massive penalties and dangers to other countries long term economic models, and assume there will be no throwback at all!

How about you use your fucking brain instead - I never said don't fix the issue. I said your method of fixing the issue is retarded, demonstrates profound ignorance regarding how shit like this actually works, and would hurt America long term in an attempt to fix it.
Turns out it's a little more complex than 'just make it yourself', this shit is rather more complex than a fucking hammer, at multiple levels.

All related to Chinese electronics I would bet.
