Thank you for this. I'm probably taking the wrong meaning from your post but was I thinking of this verse yesterday. I was reading a book I received from my church and came across the assertion that God's plan of salvation was to bring peace between Him and us. While this is ultimately the plan, in terms of the saved are to be with God in heaven and be at peace, in the immediate here and now I was remembering the above verse and felt the author was really missing the boat. The same with 2 Corinthians 2:15-16:

For we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one, we are an odor of death and demise; to the other, a fragrance that brings life.

Apparently, the "Sword" in the verse could be attributed to his words/speech and not necessarily as a literal sword.

True, but in this case I believe Jesus meant that his words would bring division between the saved and the unsaved, even within families. Still, thanks for the graphic.
