Main Stream Media and CNN are again twisting what has been said. General Mattis had previously stated that the troops will perform support functions to assist Border Patrol and not conduct police action. This in no way goes against President Trump's directive to serve as support to assist Border Patrol in their legal duties.

Just as the media was reporting that President Trump has ordered soldiers to "fire on" migrants throwing stones. He did not say that but did say stones will be considered rifles or firearms. What President Trump did say, after describing the assault on Mexican police and soldiers, is if migrants throw stones, our military will fight back. That does not mean soldiers will be begin shooting at stone throwers. They will follow their standing orders, assess the threat and act accordingly (verbal commands, fall back to safe location, use riot gear, crowd control measures, etc, only in an extreme threat would they fire weapons, in defense). That is different than "see a flying rock, fire bullets" as heavily implied by the msm.

Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." It is named after Ian Betteridge, a British technology journalist who wrote about it in 2009, although the principle is much older.
