Nice article. Observing the traditional Advent fast in preparation for the actual Christmas feast (the 12 days after December 25) really makes you appreciate the holiday more. It's a bit annoying the way everything is backwards now. When you're trying to abstain during Advent, the stores are full of Christmas goodies and premature festivities; then at the stroke of Dec. 25 when the actual holiday is supposed to start, everything disappears!
