This natural instincts stuff makes sense assuming you live in a "wild" environment where food is scarce. But modern humans live in a world where food is more than abundant and the next sugary, fatty snacky snack is a button click away. Of course this obvious to everyone except self-deluding food addicts.

I used to be terrified of what would happen if I let go of my self control around crystal methamphetamine. And THAT in itself is the problem.

Your instincts tell you to use more crystal meth. Better listen to em.

Wow, the level of mental gymnastics necessary to convince yourself that your mind is in control of your out of control eating habits is fascinating.
Freedom through hedonism? Being now thing more than an NPC, indulging yourself constantly, this thing had to go through all that to fall In to the old trap; ignorance is bliss.

Like they would eat a giant lollipop anyway, it takes too long to get the calories into their stomach.

Ha, that's why I snack on a Tootsie Pop when I want a bit of sweet. It takes me 15 minutes to savor and only 60 calories. Fats can easily consume 600 calories in less time. They don't have the patience for lollipops.
