70,000 people managed to run a Gifting Economy at Burning Man each year in the Desert for a Week..........

Only evolved humans are going to get past the IDEA called money....

People have used salt as a currency in the past. Which is not a good idea in today's world, but you can literally use anything non-perishable with a good value/weight ratio as a currency. What exactly to use will vary depending on where you live, who you do business with, etc.

Short of a currency, you can get a long way with a barter system. Try to find opportunities where you can repay someone with your time/skills/property instead of cash. And don't get stuck on it having to be a 100% match.

Consider this: "hey man, I'll fix your bike if you give me 50% off on that table". You now not only get half off, you also pay 50% less tax. Big bonus: the other guy now pays 0% tax on getting his bike fixed.

Do business with smaller local vendors and this gets easier over time. They know what you have to offer, and they too start to understand they can keep that tax money in their pocket.

I understand the barter concept, is why I have quite a bit of silver, I know Cattle, poultry, Seed, Lumber, hand made goods & just about anything can be bartered.. The good old days !
