For me its easily spec ops the line. absolutely love that game and it needs to be more popular.
Rift - They continually put out updates, new content, fix bugs, etc. The game itself is pretty sweet looking. They have more player customization than any game I've seen. And they're free to play. Granted if you're going to play for more than just trying it out you're going to want to drop about $5 in credit to open up a bunch of things. But seriously, how much have you plunked into that WoW account?
The biggest downfall of Rift is their smaller player base. Because of this the online tutorials and such tend to be a bit lacking. You can still get tutorials and video walk throughs of just about all the major content, but you might not be able to find that one little trick to beating some quests. That's about the only drawback.

Legend of Legaia. Great PS1 RPG that came out at about the same time as FF7 so it got completely overshadowed. It had a sequel on the PS2 as well that was pretty good too.

The combat system in that game is unlike anything else I have played. I wish other games copied that combo attack mechanic.
