There's a lot more to optimization than just utilizing multi-threading and assembler. And the more thorough the optimization you want, the more it costs. Nothing in business is free. If you want more, there's a cost. If you want better, there's a cost. That's business 101.

And by liberties, I'm referring to the liberties of developers to make games that the majority of gamers would be satisfied with without having their title show up on some juvenile shame list.

So yes, 60 FPS does affect the budget. Quite a lot. It's not "objectively poor performance" if people aren't universally complaining about it. Just because B is better than A doesn't make A bad. The average gamer cares about framerate when the stutter becomes a distraction or the game becomes unplayable.

Angry people who demand 60fps are not the majority.

The list on Steam is something TOtalBiscuit should be ashamed of.

Juvenile shame list? There's nothing wrong with listing games with a significant problem. 60 FPS doesn't affect the budget as much as you state. Half the games wouldn't be on this list if they'd just unlock it. A large portion of them can be fixed with a simple tweak. And yes, it is objectively poor. That's not up for argument. It results in worse visuals and responsiveness. Just because many people are used to the poorer quality because of many console games does not mean it isn't worse. TotalBiscuit has nothing to be ashamed about. All he's doing is creating a list that'll help people make more informed purchases. If people don't care about 30 FPS they can just ignore it. People who don't care are not affected by a list they can easily ignore. However don't pretend TB's done anything wrong here. I'm honestly surprised this hadn't been made yet. There should've been a list with games with arbitrary restrictions like FPS and resolution locks made a long time ago.

You're just regurgitating the same nonsense that has routinely failed to recognize the most important aspect of this whole discussion: your opinion holds no more weight than that of anyone else. And when the majority are quite happily enjoying their games of choice, they don't benefit from being told by people like you that they should be unhappy about something that really doesn't bother them.

Speak for yourself, and without all the melodramatic nonsense. If 30fps caps are such an issue for you, you can do your homework on a game-by-game basis. We don't need a shame list trying to sway peoples' opinions, and a guarantee you that's exactly what TB is trying to do because just like you, he likes to think everyone should share his standards. Someone in this very thread inquired as to why 30fps is such a big deal and you went off on your half-informed tirade about superior this and objectively that. If people don't care about 30fps, people like you will go out of your way to make sure that they CAN'T ignore it. Go be a bully somewhere else.
