My state allows unenrolled status and you do not need to declare a party in general elections. The only time you do is during primaries but that is only for ballot selection, you don't need to change your status to either party then unenroll later. I like this system as it keeps politicians off-balance. None should ever think they have your vote due to your party status.

So I am unenrolled/independent. The number of times I've voted for democrats is in the distant past and those guys would have been purged out by now. Not progressive enough by the new party standards. I don't answer polls and keep my political leanings off the books. Good luck capturing me in any poll extrapolation.

I like that idea. They should never be able to "count" on our vote, they have to earn it.

It used to be that if one identified more with their party and less with their country they should not be trusted. Current libtards exemplify this. When it devolved into the Uni-Party at warp speed during W, party no longer mattered to me but getting out of view did. Keep the bastards guessing, always. From Thomas Jefferson: "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

When I first registered to vote when I was 18, I never gave an affiliation to any party, as I thought I would vote for the best candidate regardless of party. I'm sorry to say I have never found a Democrat candidate I could in good conscience vote for in 50yrs. I guess I am a closet Republican after all!. MAGA!!!

I totally agree, you give them the benefit of the doubt and the Dems still aren't honest enough to field a decent candidate.

Yeah, I do the same thing. I'm listed as a "likely voter" so i get polling calls every other week. I particularly like giving bogus answers.

Vote next month. Voting in midterms is likely to get you classified as a likely voter. And make sure your registration has your phone number, or your house phone number is listed.

I was a registered independent for a long time. Switched to Republican so I could have a say on MAGA candidates at primary time. Didn't see a big reason to switch back. This year it's all about electorally exterminating the anti-american democrats. VOTE RED.

The Democrats haven't fielded a decent candidate in a hundred years, don't think they will start now.

Yep, registered as independent, will vote red this time. My city is so batshit crazy, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they "accidentally" release the addresses of registered R's, in the hopes that the deranged population here will vandalize their homes, or worse.

That’s the same reason I changed from repub to independent in this People’s Republic of Commiefornia. I am sure that there will be a “mistake” where repubs’ addresses are released.

Stand your ground, I'm in the same situation. If we can't win in our locals, at least we can make it close. Show them they don't have the numbers that they think.

Same here, Patriot Friend! I vote anyway, knowing it won't matter, but still wanting my vote to count.

I was registered as Repub for most of my adult life (I'm in my early sixties). Prior to Trump's candidacy announcement I registered as Libertarian. I was fed up with the repubs and the dimms; could see the corruption since 1992 and was never going to vote for either party. So when I voted for Trump in 2016 I voted as Libertarian and I have early voted in my state (all repubs got my vote) for the 2018 mid-terms. By the way, I met a former dimm standing outside the location where I was voting. He was handing out voting guides for all the repub candidates. He had been a lifelong dimm and was older than me by ten years; he converted to repub after Trump's 2016 victory. Hard-core Trump supporter now. Major awake. Bless his heart.
