Because they aren't fleeing poverty. This is just a bullshit narrative to pander to the bleeding heart faux-libs.
It reminds me of another bullshit narrative that was spread recently:
This little girl was not only not seperated from her mother, but mommy paid a coyote $6,000 to smuggle them into the US. That's a lot of money for most Americans, let alone impoverished, starving third worlders!

Ask these libs how we're helping anyone by sending marines to support foreign countries, while the people our marines are helping leave to take their jobs before they get back. Then don't pay taxes and instead mail the money home only to buy cheap goods from another nation. It's cancerous, no other way to describe what they want.
Have you never seen poverty? Are you in the first world? Poor people generally dress very well.

I agree it's just about impossible to tell if someone is rich or poor by what they are wearing. I would have never made the argument that the invading caravan looks too well dressed to be poor.
Instead I would make the argument that we cannot tell anything about them by looking at their clothing. We need to have them go to an embassy or get a visa like normal people do in the 21st century to find out who they are because there are so many possibilities.
If they are wearing rags they could be wonderful people who would make a great addition to our country.
If they are wearing expensive suits they could be escaped convicts who stole the clothes while robbing a high end residence.
If they are wearing average clothes like healthy everyday Americans, they could be contagious lepers or hospital escapees with ebola.
We have no idea who they are. Clothes are seldom a good way to make an evaluation of someone's character. So let's strike this from the convo and just say we don't want anyone to come across the border without going through proper channels even if they're wearing italian suits or they're in chanel and dripping with diamonds.
For all we know these people have bombs in their backpacks and strollers. I don't actually think they do, but we don't know for sure unless someone looks in each backpack or stroller do we?
I don't care what they're wearing. I don't care what color their skin is. I do care if they're freeloaders coming for gibs. I do care if they're invaders who are part of isis. I do care if they were released from prison and sent to the US because they are serial killers or rapists. I do care who we let roam our streets. You should care, too.

They're not so well dressed. Basic clothes such as they wear are now available free or almost free almost anywhere in the world. Nice circle jerk though, we don't have nearly enough posts that let people

Well dressed? I did not see many Armani suits in the crowd.

Clean clothes. And non faded colors and intact decoration ( what the hell are the silk screen images on a shirt called?) think of your oldest, most worn out do chores and painting shirt you own. If these were truly poor, they would all be dressed like that.

Shoes. Look at the shoes.
I live in an area that caters to the homeless. I watch several stake out their corners and smoke and such. My "awakening" happened around 10 years ago when I watched a "homeless" dude have a cheerful convo on a cell phone. When it ended, he put it away and got into his pose. He changed everything down to a sunken, somber homeless guy. Everything. This happened in front of about 10 cars but he didn't care cause we were about to go through the light. It was batshit crazy how that guy changed his ways.
That made me think back to Germany. As an American that lived in Germany, my wife and I figured out how to spot the American. We actually turned it into a game and this actually applies to the homeless these days. Look at their god damn shoes.
When you pay attention, you figure out whats going on very quickly. Have you ever tried to walk a mile or two in flip-flops/thongs? How about 1700 miles? NOPE. We already know they're being driven when the media isn't talking about them. Oh, and lets not forget the expensive strollers they're all walking around with...

Want to know what I wear? Plain, no-name no-logo $4.00 t-shirts, $12.00 pairs of pants, $7.00 per dozen socks, and a buck a pair undershorts from K-mart. My hair is pulled unceremoniously into a ponytail, My idea of "looking good" is taking time to trim My beard with a pair of scissors. The only footwear I own is a pair of 6-year-old work boots that should have been replaced last year. The closest I get to being stylish, to looking like a real man as opposed to a wage slave is when I have My riding gear on and sitting astride My cheap Japanese motorbike that I bought used because I can no longer afford to keep a car. Said riding gear consists of a simple brown leather cap, goggles, and jacket. I do no own a cellular phone, smart or otherwise.
And while I am in a rough financial state right now, What with My being out of work, My father passing away, and everything in the house breaking down (I just spent most of the past five days tearing apart our dryer to replace a bad motor,) I am by no means so poverty-stricken, hopeless, and powerless as to even consider abandoning everything I have and fleeing across thousands of miles by foot for help.
And yet, here are these "poor refugees" with smartphones, designer clothes, stylized hair, and muscles that You only get from a solid gym routine and healthy diet. But since They aren't wearing Armani, They must be poor.
You absolute fucking blockhead.

I guess we must hang in different circles if you think those folks are well dressed.

Its the same question as why do the poor rapfugees from Africa and middle east have nicer phones runing from a war torn country than most of the people who work 40-50 hours in the countries they are fleeing to.
[–] AlaricTheFirst 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
There is a rising “middle class” in these regions that is experiencing an obesity problem; especially Africa. They’re still poor by western standards but rich enough to fatten up.
[–] uvulectomy 0 points 7 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago
If they're rich enough to get and stay fat, then they're really not in dire straits.

Relative poverty?
