My grandparents all lived very long lives, and none of them died from lung cancer or heart failure,
My parents both smoke/d, my mom quit in 2005 and my did still smokes, they are 64 and 68.
My aunt and uncle both smoke, they are 74 and 77.
However, my wife's mother was diagnosed with lung cancer at 46 and had one of her lungs removed, and her brother (my wife's uncle) died of lung cancer at 41, both smokers.

According to commercials and my friends I will be lucky if I reach 60.
But all my grandparents smoked like chimneys and they all lived to their 80's and one got to 97.
I'm betting on genetics,
