I agree with everything you said except the image macro. I'd never have thought of them as substandard. Also would i be right in say that a lot of what you consider as substandard can be summed up as "no reposts"?

To be clear, 2 things:

  1. I wasn't trying to say the image macros themselves were substandard. My point was that posting image macros is a substandard way to express yourself.
  2. While you're technically correct about reposts, my point wasn't "don't make reposts," but rather, "please at least read the front page (of the sub) before posting non-OC."

To be honest, although I read almost every post in this sub that I see, I have a standing rule with myself to not upgoat anything from this sub because there is just so much hitting the front page and most of out is pretty unoriginal. I don't downgoat, but I also won't help it flood the front page.

Well said. All of it. Really. I'd just add a reminder for everyone not to link directly to Reddit. We are not alternative to them, we are something new, and we do not want to give any more traffic to Reddit. It's not that hard to find the same page archived already

...a reminder for everyone not to link directly to Reddit.

Oh, no worries. There is usually a sticky saying as much that is only not there now to make way for this one. It'll be back up soon.

Ok. Thanks. I went back today the first time since the blackout, just to delete my account, and I don't really want to see that website ever again ;-)

Thank god. Reddit became a giant circlejerk because it all was constantly rehashed. I love seeing new content from talented people, not the same content from over a year ago.

Exactly, the benefits of running a smaller community is focus and audience. Noone feels comfortable throwing themselves into the bottomless pit of large subreddits only to be ignored. Guaranteed attention - by the smaller and slower nature of Voat right now - means posts should be higher quality. Don't let previous bad habits follow you here from reddit.

Thank you for being extremely clear on what the rules are. Its important we don't make the same mistakes twice. We are goats we should be good at not tripping over the same stone more then once.
