Motivation. I feel like I'm not doing anything productive and I'm wasting hours interneting and gaming. I really need to work on my focus and discipline.

That's basically how I feel. I used to be very disciplined and motivated, but it all kind of died away. A friend of mine told me I just haven't found my calling yet, though I know I'll love what I do once I finish my major.

From what I've learned, motivation only gets you so far. All it really does is encourage you to do something, but it doesn't make you do it. I'd say focus more on getting disciplined rather than finding motivation. I'm considering joining the military after I graduate just to get more disciplined, but I've yet to decide on that.

It's easy to do something just once. But to do the same thing day after day in order to complete a project, learn a skill, or better yourself seems impossible in my current state.

Poor health, lack of money.

Is the poor health from an illness or just not being active?

Primarily illness, but probably both.

Just a thought - maybe you've been having difficulty because you're overwhelmed. College is very different than high school and along with it come a lot of stresses that you've never had before. Try breaking everything down into manageable pieces and tackling them one at a time. Since you have an exam tomorrow, focus on that right now and don't try to multitask with other things that aren't as time sensitive. Then after your exam, take some time to unplug/decompress for a little while and then make a plan of action for the next thing you have coming up. I know that I slip into a fog and can't think straight if I'm overwhelmed. Good luck tomorrow, you'll do great!!

Thank you Foxyface! Overwhelming myself is one of the things that I think threw me off during my senior year. I joined over ten clubs and became the officer of six of them, which was manageable, but never gave me time to breathe. I feel I may have just burned myself out before the real work began, and now I'm left with nothing to run off of. I'll make sure to set aside more time and not take up so many obligations.

Wow, that's really impressive! Don't spread yourself too thin, quality over quantity. When I was in college, I was really active in and lead a group but at the expensive of my grades. If I could go back in time, I would definitely put more emphasis on get really good grades and keeping the extracurriculars as enjoyable things to do to break up my day.

My government is starting to ban things like distributing encryption software and publicly recording meta data, along with decreasing welfare for those who need it (not me anymore, but my family members need it), and trying to dismantle health care.

Also, I've got a fun tropical disease that I have to keep an eye on. But its not going to kill me.

If I may ask what nation is doing all that?

Quite a few. I'm in Australia, but England, Canada and France are facing similar issues.

I did think the 'tropical disease' gave it away, but ah well :)

Got an eviction notice last week over shit I wasn't even involved in (landlady just decided to clear house rather than deal with it), so now I'm trying to find a vehicle to live out of that I can afford on ~$200 a month.

The fact that the few seem to be pushing the many around a lot in the US of A.

I can understand that one. The older I get the more I seem to learn how true that really is, though despite it all I never really feel down about it. I like to think back to this Mexican proverb:

"They tried to bury us, but they didn't know we were seeds."

Being unable to find work relevant to my major.

And to a lesser extent, being alone for the rest of my life.
