All of these fallacies can be true. That's the problem with liberals, they read this thing and think anytime something even remotely resembles one it is a key to ignoring it. The ideal of a fallacy is that the argument must be CAREFULLY and THOROUGHLY examined before it can be claimed to be a fallacy.

This whole 'fallacy' phenomenon has been one of the worst and most annoying things to happen to online discussion. They're alleged any bloody time anyone offers any argument or opinion at all, but almost never correctly. What is supposed to be a tool for ensuring quality debate by identifying inaccuracy and disingenuity has instead become a tool for people with a weak position to avoid debate at all while claiming a victory by default!

And fuck you in advance to all the people who are going to point out all the fallacies in this comment!

Agreed. Especially in a 140 character world. The appeal to authority "call out" is especially misused. This type of thing is what the thoughtless npcs love. It's a template on how to argue but they still don't know how to think or extrapolate pieces of information and put it together. When you're building a case for a point some of the details can look like one of these but not be.

You're referring to the "fallacy fallacy," which presumes that because an argument is poorly made that the conclusion is false. It is possible to argue incorrectly for a true conclusion just as it is possible to argue cogently for a false conclusion. Either way, the identification of a fallacy is not necessarily a refutation of the argument, especially when the supposed fallacy is incorrectly identified.

Do you mean retards finding out about fallacy terminology without having any logic, reason or intelligence? Because the fallacy concept has been around longer than the internet.

I find you can engage those idiots better than the ones who have no idea of the concept, and think that if they insult you they have won.

right, and and often people will say something like "You're gaslighting me, I'm not going to let you" and then end the discussion thinking that by saying that they've won and have the moral high ground, probably expecting any bystanders to break into applause
