I see it on the local socials. Many truly believe they are on the cusp of impeaching DJT. They believe it with their heart and soul.

TBH, it made me take a moment to question if I have missed something..........

Then I woke up from my nap and got on 8chan again. ;)

I'm sympathetic to your situation.

Consider yourself lucky that these people will engage in any debate with you. For many of us, our friends and aquaintances will not even communicate.

My recommendation is to stop trying to reason, convince, or talk sense into people. You don't try to reason with children who are having emotional meltdowns. The same applies here. These people exhibit all the signs of operating from emotionally charged states. One's brain can not function in a rational or effective manner in that condition. This is supported by real research.

The best you can do is calmly state that you don't agree and offer to explain your reasons if anyone cares to know why. In my experience no one will ask to know more.

Then you will know their posts are really about venting or virtue signaling -- not engaging in debate. And you would do well to treat them as such.

Well, I'm used to it. I don't mean it in a personal way. I've lived in NYC since 2004 and lived in the Boston area before that, been in the art world, then academia...

What I see is a microcosm of the state of a huge portion of our country. Totally in the dark. Will have to go slowly through the 6 stages of grief to realize the truth.

It will take a lot to bring these people into the light and they will just think we are being partisan assholes....lol.

I mostly agree with you.

I too am nyc/nj and la based. What seems like 'everyone' to us may in fact only be a vocal minority. I base this though off the maps showing red counties and states across much US with blue on the coasts. I also have come to assume that people saying nothing political online are more conservative (or at least rational) and they don't participate because it is not socially stylish to do so in this pc era.

I agree that people in the dark. My challenge when people engaged with me over this Kavanaugh bru ha ha has been to ask people the basis of their opinion. All the angry people had not watched the testimonies, but instead are relying on partisan and biased coverage of the hearings. I encouraged people to warch both parties testify then get back to me. They either changed their support to K or at least agreed that things were not as one sided as they were lead to believe. I then asked people to extrapolate that manipulation times the thousands of issues and opinions they have formed (been given).

6 stages comment may not be too far off. My best effort will consist of being a stable source for info. And I will try my best not to gloat or say I told you so.

It's actually 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance according to Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

I've needed to unfriend many family members and friends due to trump derangement syndrome. I know the only cure for it is a red pill, but I don't have the strength to force it down their throats.

One thing I discovered talking to liberals is their definition of something is not the same as mine. Also, their knowledge base is often very small when yours is great.

Tip, ask them what they know about the situation. Ask them to define words if there is a chance of misunderstanding.

A lot of liberals have no idea that Ford's accusers don't agree with her. In fact all her witnesses including her BFF disagree with her and have no idea what she is talking about. So if liberals don't have all the facts (because they listen to fake news) then how can they agree with you? You get my drift.

Liberals: "But, but, you're just reading that online in your Trumptard blogs!"

I gently throw out there to co-workers that a lot of crazy things are happening and that it looks like a bunch of high level people might be going to jail, and they all agreed and we're super excited, because mueler is finally going to start putting all the trumptards in jail along with the orange ape... I giggle inside for them... It's gonna be a hard year for those folks and I can't wait to see their faces

I have several friends and family members who are hard core dems. I gave up hope of convincing them otherwise long ago. Their main objection to Trump is that he is crass and rude. When I bring up all of his accomplishments (economy, Iran, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan etc) they just shrug and say "yeah, but he's rude and crass". There is no reasoning with people who cannot see reason.

And they're perfectly happy to be taking it in the ass their whole lives!

I hope in the near future modern medicine will find a cure for cancer, paralysis etc. I do hope they can find a cure for liberalism.
