They do have a lot lower altitude ceiling though.... I guess unless you can find a way to get them up in the sky while able to shoot.
The Russians did that I think.

The F22 is one of, if not THE, best fighter planes ever built. It can take on anything else and come out on top.
The F35 was its somewhat retarded little brother. Not quite as good at anything but supposed to be a lot less expensive.
If they can work the massive issues out, then the F35 will end up being less expensive, both as a program and as a per plane basis than the F22. I personally find the fat slow little F35 to be charming and hope they eventually figure out how to make it stay in the sky.
Still when you design airframe by committee and put in too many competing uses it makes making it work nearly impossible.
