The Great Rapprochement was possibly one of the worst things to happen in American history, outside of the South losing the Civil War.

It specifically concerned itself with strengthening the economic conditions of both countries most likely and this was a good thing at first, since there was a need for both countries to consolidate their power and joining the Union was a great thing.

This alone is what makes it one of the worst and greatest things to happen to North America. It was bad mostly because Kultur and race went out the back window and it ended up in bringing certain countries to the Union that were of no real economic benefit to us, except from a purely geopolitical standpoint(such as the Philippines, Guam, and especially Puerto Rico). I think the Philippines and Guam were necessitated because Alfred Thayer Mahan's Naval principles about the navy being important to North America's military might was important, especially to ensure the economic dominance of the British and American Empires. I think this was very necessary.

I think it was somewhat unnecessary though from a certain point and I think we went into overdrive by taking the Philippines and Puerto Rico. That should never have been allowed to happen whatsoever. I kind of feel bad for the Filipinos for what they had to endure under the Spanish and then to a much lesser extent under the Americans.

It might have been better had the island fallen under the Germans. It would have certainly been nice had the Germans taken over the island, but there would have not been much strategic value to it, and by this time the Dutch Empire fell apart. I think the Germans and Dutch should have teamed up, but the Dutch were unfortunately a bit too individualistic(and one cannot blame them) and the Germans were a bit too collectivist and tribalized.

I think though for the most part that the Great Rapprochement's disaster was the aggression directed against Germany, which was built up on an engineered lie that the Germans had killed a British nurse that had actually been spying on them(Edith Cavell). This is when as Lothrop Stoddard said the white race essentially killed itself off and it was a war of whites against whites, which was a war driven by the same greed and power cult that had led to the First and Second Boer War. Its unfortunate that whites have not been more unified.

The British should have been a bit more loving to the Germans and Boers but were not and the Americans should have stepped in to help at least the Boers, but were of course not obligated. Its this divide that needs to be bridged as soon as possible.
