These broadcast wifi signals anyone can access. Once connected, a browser will automatically redirect to a simple interface where people can chat, upload/download content, post to a message/image board, and view media steams - all in a secure, offline network. More info here. Having limited technical skill I'm just happy to have finished the project. Now the question is, how should I use my pirateboxes? What should I call the wifi signal? Think anyone would use it? Would you? I'd like to start by hosting content that is useful to as many travelers as possible. Maps, mechanical guides, useful apps, stuff that anyone could appreciate.

This is really cool. I think these would be great for in the know tourists. It could be like Geocaching, but instead of hiking you find a pirate box in a random large city that has tons of cool information for that area.
