Low carb, high fat. It worked for me. Nothing calms me down like eating. I didn't lose a bunch with the low carb, but I stopped gaining. Then every once in a while because I was working or sick or distracted, I'd lose some weight. And I'd never gain it back. Amazing.

The root cause could be anything. That's something you need to explore.
Substitute eating for something else more productive. Walking, Drink Water, take up a hobby. Make a daily menu, stick to the menu and don't deviate. Your menu can be foods you enjoy. Don't deny yourself things you like but don't over indulge.

Eat meat, stay away from sugar and carbs. If you get gluttonous with meat you’ll literally barf. So grab a bag of quality jerkey not that shit filler garbage and a big bottle of water. You’ll wear out your jaw from chewing and fill up your belly and stop being a sugar fiend. Again, eat meat, drink water and things will get better, as in more objective and less emotional. Might I also suggest you buy a small propane grill (not charcoal even though it's better). When you're hungry, toss a slab of meat on it. It takes under 10 minutes to cook it and it'll more than satisfy you. All you need is oil, salt, and pepper and you're good to go. Less than 10 minutes to cook, and less than 20 minutes start to finish.

He's right though, I'm assuming you have a sugar addiction and it's harder to get rid off it than alcohol.

Yep. Do the low carb high fat thing and eat whatever you want (that has low net carbs) whenever you want.
Snack on meat. Nuts (not legumes like peanuts). Cheese. Avocado. Pickles (not sweet).
Avoid starch and sugar.
I assume this is a post about weight. Change your diet and the weight goes away. Then when you emotionally eat, it'll be fine.
Just binge eat some halo top ice cream.
