CDDA?

I kind of liked some things about State of Decay, they almost had a good formula going. The squad/base management felt neat. If they could merge that with a Last of Us/Dying Light sort of engine and the soul of Zomboid, I think you'd come out with an awesome but expensive to make game. Only a AAA company could pull it off, and none of them want to invest in making quality games anymore.

Days Gone has some potential.

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. It's a roguelike (an actual roguelike) that is so ridiculous and amazing it cannot be described. I strongly advise checking it out if you're into survival and crafting and zombies, there are countless possibilities. It's also totally free. There are giant mutant insects, wandering hordes of different zombie types, line of sight and noises are very important, you have lots of guns, bionic implants, futuristic secret military bases, tons of skills to learn, you can build vehicles completely from scratch and fully customize everything about them including armor, engine, mounted weapons, and machines hooked right up to the battery allowing you to make a mobile fortress tank that acts as your base...I could go on.

This is a relatively short and very amusing look at what the game is like, but remember you're only seeing a fraction of what you can do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cyoj4-niEPc&t

If you get it, it's going to be in ASCII per default but you can easily change it and I suggest you find a tileset you like.
