Dang it. So who is the dude who stared into the black hat and wrote the tablets? Ugh.

That you just posted sounds like what I’ve heard before. I thought that dude got lynched near the Arkansas Area. But you might be closer.

Isn’t there now a riff between the LSD and MLSD groups? With one going all wives andnteh others more main stream?

Oh I love ripping on the church. The people - nah, I’ve met too many good Mormons (weird about cola though) and missionaries too. I like how they pair up to stay legit. Did you have to go missionary overseas to repent for your high school days sin? A good buddy of mine back then ended up in France. I was part of his sinning :-) am proud of getting him to drink cola, dancing and what else was there ??? No alcohol or bad shit just normal kid shit.

Joseph was said to have translated the golden plates, which is what the hat stuff was. That's what the Book of Mormon is said to have come from. The Doctrine and Covenants were scripture written by the prophets of the LDS church, mostly from the early ones (though there was a chapter written in the 1950s or around that time). The Pearl of Great Price was a few extra things that Joseph was said to have translated. These along with the bible (King James version) make up the scripture for the LDS church.

The polygamists are a definite split from the main LDS church. I really have never heard anything good from Mormons about them. They mostly are in Southern Utah and Northern Nevada though. My family really can rail on them too, which is funny. Especially my grandmother, who is the stereotypical sweet old grandma that cooks a lot. She gets really upset over them. Also one of my uncles lives in Cedar City (southern Utah on I-15) and they are getting a lot of the polygamists moving in there. They say the polygamists abuse the welfare and food stamp system since legally only one of the wives is married. The rest are single moms, so they can exploit that.

I don't understand what you mean about the cola stuff though. Mormons drink lots of soda instead of drinking alcohol. No tea and coffee too. Also there are dances held at churches for high schoolers usually, those it is pretty tame dancing.

I left the church in the last bit of my senior year of HS. Honestly, it was the thing that lead be to research everything, which lead me to voat and other similar places. It was my first redpill. That did mean I didn't end up going on a mission, which was honestly a really good thing for me since my personality is very averse to that sort of thing. I guess I am still a member since I never got my name removed from their records, so Im just really inactive.

Even being an ex-mormon, I love it here in Utah. Ive never had problems with members even after I left, which pretty much all of my neighbors I know are Mormon. Its not like my morals have really changed much from the church morals though, so Im still a better mormon than some mormons haha.

Good stuff.

From my crappy understanding your grandma would be pissed because that other sect is not following the tenant of being self sufficient.

Cola as in caffeine. We did get him to drink coffee too! Lol like I said it was kid level stuff and nothing really sinful. Nah, we watched over him. He already broke enough rules so we stopped him going to far into hell - he was fried we just wanted him to be slightly normal.

My sister dated a great grand-son of Bringham (or was it smith???) and she said his mom Ran away for some reason and it wasn’t a good thing, like they tried to bring her back style.

The missionary thing is severely dorky! Really bad dorky. You can always spot them a mile a way. So good thing you didn’t!

I enjoy reading stories like yours! It really provides honest insights into topics that most people right off as anecdotal but for me I am able to learn a lot more than through case studies.

More Mormon than Mormons. I refuse to go to church and tend towards the Sumer side of 2 gods. Yeah, I post about that in my own subs. Nobody listens so it’s good!

But it all comes down to how good of person people see you when people really look at you. It doesn’t matter your religion, it just matters if you believe in being the best type of person you can be.

I’ve heard many good things about Utah. I wonder if I would retire there. Colorado is just too SJW I feared for me.
