This is somewhat smart, but still will likely collapse in the end.
Reddit is a business. Their task is to suck in as many people as they can so they can throw ads at them all. Having people run away because they're "offended" at the content made them worry about losing customers, so they started censoring. Then they started losing customers because of the censorship. Lose-lose.
Therefore they're going to try to keep their customers inside their own bubbles. That's actually pretty smart, no one who can't take it gets offended so long as they stay in their own bubble.
Only problem is, the activists (mostly lefties currently, but that may change in the future) are going to invade those other bubbles and start screaming anyway, demanding censorship for wrongthink. Reddit has gone too far down their road already and likely won't have the backbone to tell them "no".
