@fluxusp @Kleyno

You guys seem to be the Linux people of Voat. Help me not hate this OS again. Every time I try to do anything on Linux is becomes a massive time-sink that usually results in no decent finished product. I WANT to like this OS, but I need to be able to make some progress now and then.

It's a learning curve, but well worth it. (I'm not either of those tagged.)

Are you the one that responded earlier? If so, I have a new problem:

This version of ownCloud requires at least PHP 5.6.0 You are currently running PHP 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.25. Please update your PHP version.

I THINK I installed PHP 7.0, but it still doesn't seem to work - I'm guessing the previous version is what's actively being used, and was not updated to/replaced by 7.

Your ifconfig shows that you have no IPv4 address. Try dhcpcd eth0 or dhclient to get an IPv4 address.

EDIT: FML Ubuntu doesn't like telling me when something works. Once again, no idea what made the IPv4 come up.

Well, this sucks. Went back to it today and have the same problem. I used your comment to search for those two commands yesterday and found the answer (somehow) then promptly forgot it, apparently.

Thank you!

New problem if you don't mind. (sorry if you are the anon below and this is a duplicate for you)

Your webserver (apache?) is misconfigured. You need to configure it so it uses PHP7 not 5. In your httpd.conf (in /etc/httpd/ or /etc/apache/) you need to comment in the line LoadModule php7_module modules/mod_php.so and comment out the php5 one. Verify with apt-get that you installed all the php7 or php7.1 stuff.
