I did, no mention of internet access as a utility, that's why I asked you.

Exactly which companies provide Internet access through wires? There's only 2. They used to be regulated so they wouldn't fuck the people they were granted infrastructure monopolies over. Hell, I remember when phone companies were legally required to lease out 56K service. To some extent it was applied to DSL. There was less regulation on cable based internet for some reason (probably due to it being a newer tech and money bribes to Congress).

You can probably still find stories on the net involving some baby bell companies trying to "keep bill amounts the same so as not to confuse customers on why their bill went DOWN" when the regulation was removed and they made up a bullshit fee to try and pocket it off anyone paying for their DSL connection. They got caught very quickly.

2? TWC, COX, Comcast. There are probably more small ISP's I am sure but that 's 3 right there. Am I misunderstanding you?

I agree with leasing service though. We have seen it work in cellular, I myself use usmobile on the TMO network and it's a massive savings from when I Was with TMO proper. They lost me when they scammed a family member then charged them for the return, cancelled my business account the next day and went with USM

We have also seen it work in my state of Maryland, where there are about 50 or so, maybe more or less, power companies. I pay about 4 dollars extra month for a provider that uses wind, and it's delivered over the lines that Exelon (the big power company before this was allowed ) lines. Line sharing works.
