Why buy alcohol when you can just make it yourself? Plebs

Why buy alcohol when you can ferment it from the corpses of your enemies.

Why make it yourself when you can just raid monasteries for that sweet sweet monk honey they call trappist beer?

I bought Kingdom Come. Feels good.
[–] collin6173 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
I bought it too. The game is a little boring to me and I don't even play it, I just wanted to support the company and make liberals angry.

There are nationalities and political views represented here, on the virgin/chads, even though they add fucking nothing to the argument put forth by the image, as nationality/political alignment has nothing to do with the subject of digital piracy. And look, the "loser" of the image just so happens to be American. For no reason. Funny thing about that.
It's almost like, and bear with Me here, it's almost like the internet is full of delusional, permanently butthurt subversive faggots with some sort of. oh I don't know, anti-American agenda.
But that just couldn't be true, what would anyone have to gain from the destabilization of a first-world super-power such as the United States of America...

Yeah, I noticed and got slightly irritated as well.
Not that America is any better than the other shitholes for the last 70 years.

If you want to play a game but cant afford it so you pirate it == No lost sale your a pirate and free advertising.
If your not sure about a game so you torrent it because of a lack of a demo and you don't like it and stop playing == Your a pirate and no lost sale because if you paid for it chances are you would return it.
If you torrent a game, enjoy it, and can afford to buy it but dont == Your a thief, but it still isn't a lost sale because said people would never buy it in the first place.

Serious question: is pirating games and/or movies immoral?
[–] carlip 1 point 6 points 7 points (+7|-1) ago
these days it's fine to pirate. 15 years ago games had demos available that actually let you try it out before buying. now it's like a competition to see who can put a more incomplete, buggy mess and still charge $60. if game publishers actually cared about the product I might care about paying.
[–] FattyWhale 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
It completely depends on who you ask. The system I've gone with is that it's perfectly fine if it's something no longer being sold by the original publisher, it was never released in your region, or you already own a physical copy. Pirating for the purpose of playing romhacks is also fine.
[–] SonsOfElendil 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
Does that boil down to "If X is prepared for and can afford being stolen from, it's okay to steal from X"?

Buy the game if you want it. With the exception of AAA games, who's producers don't see much when it does well, and lose their jobs if it doesn't. Most devs want to get paid for their hard work. If you hold on to your money because you don't know if you want it or don't know if you are going to like it, then don't pick it up.
If you NEVER want to give money to a certain company for any reason but still want to play their games, pirate. Just don't cry when studio shuts down because they don't break even.

Buy the game if you want it.
I do get pirating as a demo source (reviews are shit for determining if you want to buy a game). But buy the damn thing if you like it after playing it for a while. And if you finish it you damn sure should pay. Very few exception to that.

Im more the capitalist voting with my dollars on if the studio deserves the cash. EA and Ubisoft are usually off my radar since they SJW the shit out of everything.

I am a strong supporter of small indie studios because I feel they make good games for niche appeal. I will say though, GTA 5 is not worth 60 dollars, but I just got two copies for less than $40 in the Steam summer sale and it is a very offensive game in many ways, well worth the money! I really hope Rockstar continues to develop games with copious amounts of swearing, accurate dialogue, and penis jokes/toilet humor.
