So you thought other countries would just take these tariffs without retaliation?

Yeah, I never said that. You'd have to expect some pushback. We're going to have a temporary period of uncertainty and friction just like with China, but in the end the US with its stronger negotiating hand will be able to achieve some kind of long-term improvement in trade.

Granted, I think it's tough to know whether this is a matter of days/weeks/months, so a struggling corporation might get a bit nervous. But in what I've read about this Harley has been looking for an excuse to move some production out of the US for a while. I think Trump knows a lot more about this business than people think and his series of tweets might be dead on.

But the USA doesn't have the stronger negotiation hand. You started this trade war with china, the EU, Canada and many others at the same time. Also you have sanctions up on Russia, Iran, etc. And Trump is universally hatet by nearly every other nation, every politician from these countries that want's to give in commits political suicide. I find it a bit disturbing that you take the word of Trump for granted and cut all logical thinking off.

I don't think Trump is perfect or gets every decision right, but I think his negotiation and persuasion skill is very good and he's going to win many of these types of trade negotiations.

People were crying about his mean tweets about North Korea starting WWIII when that was actually part of the equation that brought them to the negotiation table. I don't think most people understand how he operates and most people are going to have dumb opinions on what Trump is doing.
