Resident Evil 5 had a good amount of representation, shame they didn't like that either. It was racist apparantly. Notice Capcom haven't put a black person in Resident Evil since LOL.

Despite having multiple black characters with their own backstory in every single game it's still somehow a problem.

The studio that actually makes the games are 99.9% white (and the people that play them are vast majority white) yet they expect there to be black lead characters to satisfy their own racist needs.

Then when they get diversity like in the new Detroit game, they bitch even more.

I haven’t seen anyone bitch about diversity in gears of war until this post. Seen tons of bitching about diversity in Detroit though.

The protagonist character is a straight white American man in all of them. Cole is a walking stereotype. The writing is basic schlock, not self aware enough to be exploitative. They have different ethnicities and genders....and that’s it. Is that representation?

.

Of course it is. I, personally, don't think it is necessary for a games narrative to include or be focused on ethnicity, gender, or sexuality to justify a characters in-game existence.

But it is necessary for a character to have more depth than just being a token (((diversity))) inclusion to justify anyone giving a shit.
