There were other dynamics at work there, including my clients inability to either control his anger or frustration, and his inexperience in babysitting.
Those are not excuses for taking the life of a child. 25 to life was too lenient.

He's literally hired to defend his client as the client wants, and as strongly as possible. The defendant is a scumbag who punched a baby to death; the lawyer is ensuring he gets a fair trial, as is the right of everyone in our legal system. And he didn't say he justified punching a baby, he tried to claim there were mitigating circumstances (unsuccessfully). You'd want your own lawyer to try and claim there were mitigating circumstances if you were arrested for something too.
