I'm no lawyerWhich I will Clearly Demonstrate below... and Like, @minorleakage , I have a mild case of retard.
Are you sure They are Implying that An individual Voat user, Would be responsible for the Court and legal fees If voat is Sued?
I know they are entitled to construct an agreement that allows Them to not be held Responsible for Anything that May arise from an individual voat user....
But that's completely different Than Having an individual user, Bankroll Voats Defense if VOAT is sued.
In fact, that's how The User agreements usually work... It allows them to steal all of your shit, Without getting in trouble... But it also dissolves their responsibility for anything an individual user may do.
HOWEVER, If You are correct in your interpretation of the User agreement... Which could be the case, Because again, I'm retarded There's a zero percent chance It would hold up in court... Meaning If VOAT Gets Sued, And they want to claim that They are being sued because of a single user.... There is no decent judge in the land who Would rule That the individual would be responsible for Voats defense.... That being said, There are a lot of corrupt judges That do whatever they want.
But I feel like that's not even a possible scenario, since the User agreement SHOULD PREVENT VOAT FROM BEING SUED IN THE FIRST PLACE. THis is why You can't sue Star bucks If they sell a coffee To someone who Dumps it on the homeless guy sitting outside I know that's a really shitty, Possibly nonequivalent analogy... But I refuse to think about this issue for any longer.

It says explicitly in the ToS that you (yes you @FuckUredditFuckuSpez) will hold Voat "Harmless" plus you will "Defend", i.e. any red penny that Justin Chastain has to squeeze out of his ass because of a lawyer, court, 3rd party suing, you will cover it... and you defending them means you will cover lawyer fees too.
I dont know specifically of any website that has invoked this, but contracts irl have these sorts of things negotiated to an absurd extent and those do hold up in court (as long as the severance clause holds up).
Dude... Why you gotta do that?? I read your first sentence
"It says explicitly in the ToS that yo"
And Though to myself
Oh Sweet, This dude is gonna clarify this shit for me....
Then a dozen words Later we end up at
. any red penny that Justin Chastain has to squeeze out of his ass
So now we're back to square one... Square one was my suggestion that you misinterpreted the user agreement...
But Square two was Not being confident in MY OWN interpretation... So I thought you Were going to solve this once and for all... But no. Here we are... Back at square one. Or wait... I guess 2. Because I'm still not confident In My interpretation... But you didn't help your interpretation either. :/
We'll get to the bottom of this some day.

Thanks. Like I said, I'm a little slow. Never noticed it down there.
I'm still having trouble finding the part about Voat being sued. If you feel like it, maybe quote me that section? Not your job, but I just don't see it.

If you see a contract irl, always read the indemnity, strike through the "defend" part under all circumstances, or at least throw in a "reasonable attorney fees", and decide if you really want to agree up front that you'll pay for all damages even up to and including "gross negligence" on their part.
@puttitout must know how bullshit this is, why he leaves it in is any ones guess, but Jews gonna Jew...
