Our next show is a mostly private affair and has a bunch of people from across the age groups. I'm told that our goal is to make them dance. Afterwards, we get to eat and drink for free. Then we have the option of doing another set, so it's potentially a long show. Three sets and an encore. I figure the third set, which is 'to be determined' and the pay added if we do it, will be a good test of the band's endurance and ability to play while inebriated.

I like to pretend I'm dreading it, but I'm secretly looking forward to it. It's a small, for us, affair. We're still gonna cause permanent hearing loss. It's what we do.

Huh? Fucking tinnitus drives me batty sometimes.

I'm told that our goal is to make them dance.

The first time I created my own band I had a talk with the guys and told them that we have tio learn a lot of groove songs. We have to be able to make people dance. They liked all of my song choices, and once they saw people hit the dance floor and go crazy then it became a staple. Ya gotta be able to groove. I also liked to make people laugh a little and do Rodney Carrington's Titties and Beer --in the right kind of setting. Stuff like that goes a long way with people.

Don't need no stinkin' hearing. I actually wear ear plugs. They're custom things that reduce volume without changing pitch. I'll avoid mentioning brand names, but there's a number of good brands. You get what you pay for, but don't pay too much.
