Contract work paid pretty well, so I don't really mind. I'd go into the studio, play what I was told to play, and get paid immediately.

Did you have a choice? I am sure that way is probably better in most cases, but if the record was to sell ten million copies or something absurd like that it might be different

No. In fact, I signed papers agreeing to a variety of conditions and one of them was signing away my right to further payment. There's some where I never signed such papers, but I don't believe they went anywhere.

I've done studio work for infamous and semi-famous alike. If the album was recorded in MA from 1986 to 1997, I might have been on it. If it was recorded near NC, including VA, from 1999 to 2007, I might be on it. I was doing studio sessions at a rate of maybe one per month, if I average it out.
