I re-read the post on Nextdoor, a social networking site notoriously popular among gentrifiers, about calling the police on drivers blasting their car stereos too loud in our dense urban neighborhood. I crafted a biting response, and I hit “post.”
Wow, she sure showed them; I'm inspired by her bravery.

Maybe people don't want to talk face to face with you because you are a bitch?
Some black people are having serous issues with real oppression being at an all time low, and now look for it with the desperation of a crack fiend that is starting to recognize things.

I had no idea that my English basement tenants had been leaving trash out like this. It would have been helpful if you told me, she typed. Boom.
Uh. It is the responsibility of the NEIGHBOR to tell you about YOUR OWN house's trash situation? Just the utter lack of responsibility is atrocious.
I get it - I have an HOA, and they act like fucking petty tyrants, sending letters for the tiniest offenses. This is basically the same - but instead of having the JOY of paying every month for on HOA to keep tabs on your every movement and failure your neighborhood clean and your property valuable, we have neighbors are self-policing. I agree that this is a double-edged sword - because if you get a nasty cunt of a neighbor, and your life turns to hell, and someone like that will just utterly bash your ass online about things, but won't say boo to your face, not even a Hi, How are you?
This is why white neighborhoods are successful and property values go up, up, up. "Gentrification" = having pride in your property and maintaining it, not letting it fall to shit because lazy and just want to be a porch monkey. Having vindicative cunts posting your every fault on-line isn't helping, I agree, but the caring about the neighborhood isn't the problem.
