Let's get this straight. To end poverty, you want to bankrupt the system that is providing the very welfare you intend to have everyone depend upon? That sounds a lot like, hey let's sink the only boat we own so a mythical angel can come build us a stronger better one! Till we sink, and drown, because that's communism/socialism for you.

The Progressives find dysfunction fascinating which is why our suburbs are descending into chaos and who better to attend to the chaos than social workers who are usually Progressives. So whether wittingly or otherwise, Progressive policies have probably resulted in the employment of more social workers. It's a symbiotic relationship. The progressives "light a fire" and then employ their own to extinguish it, which is impossible, of course, so there are jobs for life if not for generations.
