Ps2 - dvd player. Made college do-able. N64 and many others had memory cards!

I think the ps2 was incredible, and the GameCube was the best Nintendo system

on ps1 you could remove the game disc for a lot of games after the level loaded and throw any cd in to play your own music. headsets could be used to communicate in online games (online games had been on console already (albeit without voice communication) but it was niche and ps1 helped make it more mainstream).

Did you ever play Monster Rancher? The game would actually have you take out the CD from the playstation and put another one in it so it could read it and then it would spawn you a new monster based on the disc data. It could be any kind of CD like music or other games. I went through every CD I owned lol.

Quake 2 on PC used CD audio as well. Probably other PC games did but that's the only one I ever noticed.

I had a chipped ps1 before it was stolen from me at 16. Those were some of the best years of my life as the internet sped up and I had a cd burner. I paid $40 for the chip through a friend and never paid full price again. At worst I paid to rent a game and copied it before returning it. It was so fucking awesome for the time that modern day piracy does it little justice and I say that typing this on a rig with nearly 2TB of pirated games installed on it. Somewhere along the line the magic was lost.

FWIW, Flash memory was popularized by SanDisk's Compact Flash format which launched four years prior (1994) to Sony's Memory Stick (1998). The latter was comparable to BetaMax: pushed hard by Sony but not showing sufficient innovation to sway most consumers to Sony's more expensive product over continued use of the existing, more compatible format.

lol yeah and not to mention that Sony went full Sony and released subsequent proprietary storage mediums that could only be used on their devices and were outrageously expensive.

And it was a relatively open media center too! You could easily play all the movies you had digital copies of on it...the PS4 on the other hand is locked down harder than a jew's gold

PS3 was probably the most expensive blu-ray player and the bulk of the people buying them still had CRTs or 720p screens. $799 at costco with few options to copy the discs. The games were upscaled and by the time it got traction the PCs issues were mostly corrected. Maybe it got cheap near the end but it was still shit along with the 360.

The PS1 was awesome but for me the PS2 was the absolute peak. I loved that I could just burn whatever game I wanted for either console and play it, although I did that mostly for the PS2, because PS1 emulators run smoothly on any computer.

Ps2, gamecube, xbox and dreamcast. It was the golden age. Downhill since.

Put a loader on a memory card, add a HDD with the network adapter, and play games off the HDD. PS2/GameCube are where I stopped buying consoles.

Before the PS1 I had the 3DO. It was a game changer for me. One day a friend and I went into a store and out in the lobby there was this game called TEKKEN. We got addicted to that game. I heard that the PS1 came out and that game was available on it. I went directly to the game store and bought it and a bunch of other games. I spent right at $1000 that day and back then that wasn't chicken feed.

We started having TEKKEN tournaments every weekend. Almost 20 beer drinkers sitting around playing TEKKEN. I was the TEKKEN MESSIAH. I loved my PS1. It was revolutionary. The PS2 was just as important. A shitload of great games. I'd just like to have all that money back.

Me too. Sometimes I look at my collection and can't believe how much money I threw away at videogaming as a teenager. Now I buy just a couple of games per year that are really worth my money, while watching other games on YouTube.

I basically stopped spending money on games because of league of legends I thought I was getting over on them.. nope ended up basicaly buying skins and stuff that was more then I would have ever spent on the actual game.. that being said it's the game I have played more then any other game and still play it, so i almost feel like I'm donating, i got the htc vive and spent to much on incomplete games but Arizona sunshine was fucking awsome for a vr game.

Hmm, at the current rate of progress, unless something drastic change, each tekken characters will belong to 1 of the 99 gender by Tekken 10 or so in order not to offend "progressives."

And 90% will be brown/black to comply with diversity rules, and half of them are obese, and all of them are purposely made ugly in order not to shame fuglies..

There will be 2 version. That's the localized "english" language version. The Japan only version in Japanese language will stay the same as usual.

Honestly gamers are underestimating the bleak future of gaming. Even now, I heard that localized Zelda game or shit was censored because of fat shaming. Western progressive ideology will ruin gaming industry forever.

Normal government: encourages people to eat healthy and lose weight so they can enjoy life to the fullest.

"Progressive" government: encourage obesity and tell fat obeast goyim to be proud of themselves and therefore get an early death to accelerate the white genocide program. Obesity rate in white nations is systematically planned, probably by adding poison in shit that you eat. Then of course, the plan is to import thirdworlders, such as those fit war veteran mujahideens, to "replace" the "aging" population.

I don't know, I thought you had to disc swap after the Sony bootup on an actual game disc.

I think that is how it is done bit I'm too lazy to Google that for you.

If i recall correctly... you boot with a legit disk, and swap after the ps1 logo does its thing. Just youtube it and find a video.

Easier to just put in a modchip, assuming you can still find them.
