Going through your whole CD collection trying to get a cool monster in Monster Rancher is a strong memory from that period of time. Getting pissed if I got a Suezo. Fucking willful Suezos. Or Mochis.

VII changed life. Also Chrono Cross, even if just for the soundtrack.

Skull Monkeys. Heart of Darkness. The Oddworld games. Legacy of Kain. There were some awesome titles back in the day.

I was enjoying the genius of the Radeon x550 at that point in time

SNES/Genesis era was the only era where consoles definitely beat PC's. NES was decent but just like the Atari it was nothing compared to the old school arcade scene.

It was a real bitch saving up to get a decent gaming PC in the late 90's, but with piracy and a huge appetite for gaming it was relatively cheaper and better. The internet culture was a lot edgier then too, closer to Voat than Facebook. Normies ruined the fun in the 00's. Sigh...

Nintendo 64 did everything better though. Except exclusive licenses.

Only the PS1 was able to play music CD while playing games.

You can plop any music CD into a SEGA CD while a game is running, and have any soundtrack you like.

The PS1 IS NOT the reason why we have removable flash memory. You're asspulling. Even the Saturn had memory cards, and it came out first.

PS1 had twin memory cards to share savings with friends, fucking idiot.

Who cares? It's not the reason we have fucking flash memory. Memory cards weren't new. The PS1 did a lot of interesting things, but few of them were particularly original.

Don't forget the incredible software development. If you want an example of hardware whose software (or lack thereof) sank it, look no further than the Sega Dreamcast.

The Dreamcast was way ahead of its time! It had pretty much the first feasible console online experience. The removable memory card with its own unique gimmick was also pretty cool back then. Even still, the lack of good software killed it, or rather, let it die.

However, the PS 1 continues to have killer emulation support to this day because the games were so good. Why else would gamers, in the age of Bloodborne, Horizon ZD, etc continue to play PS 1 games?

You're here because you know something... What you know you can't explain, but you feel it.... You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world.... You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.... It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Funny that the PS1 was originally going to be an add-on for the SNES, until Nintendo told them to buzz off and Sony said fine, we'll make a major console then!
