‘Going off the charts’ on a medical test is not a good thing. More doesn’t equal better. Obese divers are at an increased risk of decompression sickness, poor oxygenation, they are also less efficient at rescuing themselves or their buddies in an emergency. The first doctor was probably...you know...trying to save your life?

It's not just the fatalities, but diving incidents are higher with the obese, which endangers everyone.
