Sure thing. Here are the respective wikipedia entries for practice chanter and Recorder, musical instrument.
You can get surprisingly good quality wooden practice chanters imported from Pakistan for just under twenty bucks online, but one with a lesson book and companion CD will cost a bit more. They make them in plastic as well, but those will cost you a lot more. Don't buy the Pakistani full bagpipe kits though. I had a classmate get one and he had to drop a few hundred dollars more to get it working properly. The Recorders are usually half the cost of a practice chanter, but typically made of plastic with wooden ones costing a good bit more. The difference in price is probably due to differences in demand as a lot of schools use recorders in their music programs as cheap woodwind starters.
@The_Prophet_Profit Not going to happen. You're going to have to settle for the links provided above.
@lord_nougat No... I learned how to play recorder when I was younger. I later got myself a practice chanter after finding a bagpipe teacher. The fingering for both are the same though, so the transition wasn't particularly difficult. I wish you luck with renewing your relationship with the Trumpet or pursing one with the practice chanter or recorder.

I've wanted to get a practice chanter foe dome.time, as I fucking love bagpipes, but I just never have. I need to play music again, though, it has been way too long.
