Most software allows you to pick which available mic to use. This will solve nothing.

I am not sure if that's entirely true. Laptops could have multiple channels of mic input that aren't necessarily hardwired with the bypass. So you might feel "safe" when the mic remains active. If your machine isn't compromised, you could just disable the driver or simply put a tape over. If you want to be hardcore about it, then open the case and snap out the mic.

Disable the drivers.

Yeah, no, doesn't work. At least not on all laptops.Additionally, really shatty headphones will double as microphones since the mechanics and equipment is the same.

Any modern operating system will allow you to switch recording device though... Disabling it should be enough, or physically remove it if you really don't want the NSA hearing you grunt to porn and baby talk to your dog.

Ok. What about your phone/tablet/Bluetooth masturbator? Or any other electronic device around you? Just assume you are always being recorded by something. Never say anything that could be used against you. I honestly don't know and probably will never know the extent of tracking we are subjected to, so I figure its best to just play it safe.

Holy fuck... did I just become a paranoid conspiracy theorist?

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Now if my machine has extra ports and mics, then I lost 5 seconds and a broken jack. If it doesn't have these extras, then I'm safe. I don't have illegal dealings to protect, I just like my privacy.

Pointlessness... IF your shit is compromised this shit would've no effect. Just a mock driver. Then remotely turn it on and off.
