I'm sure Sikhs will have an exception.

I have only ever heard this claim from people who don't carry a knife. Those same people are always so grateful when I use my knife to solve a problem they face, like opening a box, or removing a tag from clothing, or just yesterday: cutting a steak sandwich in half. Arguably the most useful tool ever invented, but nope, no reason to carry one.

why use a knife when you could use a dull rusted safety blade

What are you going to take your food to a sanctioned cutting station, or is the queen mother going to only give you little cubed food to eat, for your own safety of course.

What if I have just been shopping, and seen some kitchen knives on sale and thought "yeah go on then" and bought them? Since I dont drive I will be taking it home on public transport.

I read in one of the Twitter comments (not sure if it's correct) that it is permitted to carry if it in the original package and only on the original day of purchase
